Nvidia and TSMC Launch U.S.-Made Blackwell AI Chip Production in Arizona
Nvidia and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) have commenced volume production of Blackwell AI chips at TSMC's Phoenix facility, marking a strategic advance in U.S. semiconductor self-reliance. The collaboration addresses soaring demand for AI and high-performance computing hardware, though advanced packaging remains dependent on Taiwanese fabs until at least 2030.
CEO Jensen Huang's presence at the Arizona site underscored the partnership's geopolitical and industrial significance. The fab will leverage 2nm to 4nm processes, including specialized A16 chips for AI and supercomputing workloads. Nvidia plans further integration of robotics and AI to optimize future U.S. manufacturing capacity.
